Net Neutrality

Net neutrality has created a lot of controversy lately. The reason it is so important to many people is because it guarantees that internet service providers treat all data equally, without discriminating or charging differently depending on user, content, website, application, etc. Net-neutrality

On Thursday and Friday, the U.S President's son, Donald Trump Jr., tweeted a few points about net neutrality, mocking the FCC’s deregulation and stating that they are exaggerating.

He said, “I would pay good money to see all those people complaining about Obama’s FCC chairman voting to repeal #NetNeutality actually explain it in detail. I’d also bet most hadn’t heard of it before this week. #outrage.”

Not only did Donald Trump Jr. misspell net neutrality and wrongly attribute the appointment of the current FCC chairman to President Obama rather than to his own father, but he also misunderstood its concept as he retweeted Netflix’s tweet, which included a common but false belief about the meaning of net neutrality.

Naturally, #NetNeutrality was used abundantly after his tweet, wih a lot of people reacting and expressing their dismay.
